The Vulnerable Adult Unit was created by the Attorney General in 2001 in response to the revisions made by the Legislature of the Mississippi Vulnerable Adults Act. The Vulnerable Adult Unit investigates and prosecutes persons who abuse, neglect, or exploit a vulnerable adult .

May 29, 2019 · Governor signs GAP Act to protect children and vulnerable adults. May 29, 2019. Gov. Phil Bryant on Wednesday, May 29, signed the Mississippi Guardianship and Conservatorship Act, which will provide stronger protections for children and vulnerable adults.
Adult Protective Services, under the Mississippi Department of Human Services, Division of Aging & Adult Services, investigates allegations of abuse, neglect, and exploitation of vulnerable persons residing in private home settings, as well as any follow-up services provided by Division of Aging and Adult Services (DAAS) to those vulnerable persons as a result of the investigations.
